Adica is a worldwide provider of power system planning software. Our software has been distributed for use in over 60 countries. Adica specializes in the application of innovative agent-based modeling & simulation (ABMS) software created with Argonne National Laboratory and is worldwide distributor of Argonne’s Electricity Market Complex Adaptive System (EMCAS) software.

EMCAS provides advanced analytics used to more accurately model and better understand the behavior of electricity market participants in order to meet the needs of: 1.) System Operators and Market Regulators to test regulatory structures and assess market power thus limiting the exposure of consumers to potentially substantial price spikes; 2.) Electric Utilities to analyze alternative trading strategies and business practices when deciding on how best to manager their portfolio of assets; 3.) Financial Institutions to have a clearer understanding of expected revenues from merchant power plants in order to make sound investment decisions; and 4.) Electricity generation companies, transmission companies, and industrial consumers to improve their competitiveness in the evolving marketplace.

Since the EMCAS product launch in August 2005, the software has been licensed for use by a wide spectrum of clients (e.g., electric utility, transmission company, regulatory agency, research institute and university) in Asia, Europe and North America.

Adica is also a leading provider of training and analytical support on the use of other popular electricity system planning tools, such as GTMax (for hydro generation optimization and regional interconnection studies), WASP (for least cost generation expansion planning) and MAED (for energy demand forecasting).

Adica staff has organized projects to address power system planning needs throughout Africa, Asia and the South Pacific, Europe, Latin America, North America and the Caribbean. Our approach to implementing national and regional projects is unique in that we both conduct insightful analyses and transfer our knowledge and state-of-the-art software tools for continued use by local experts.
